• Styrofoam Disposable Wares: These are lighter, durable and strong. If you choose laminated Styrofoam, you will have more durability, cut resistance as well as strength. These disposable plates can be used for heavy pastas and barbecue sandwiches. Non laminated Styrofoam is ideal for salads and other light foods. This is however not biodegradable and is not microwave safe. Also, it can’t be used repeatedly.
• Plastic Disposable Wares: These are probably the best choice because they are the most durable and the strongest. They can also old heavy foods without causing any mess due to leakage or bending. They also look stylish and elegant at the dinner table. However, they are more expensive and need to be sent for recycling and not for disposal with the trash. They are not safe for the environment if left to biodegrade.
• Banana Leaves: These are actually the safest and probably the best choice. In a few countries, banana leaves are indeed traditionally used as plates. For heavy food, two banana leaves can be used on top of each other. They are environment friendly as well as inexpensive. Care must be taken because there may be chances of leakage.
