- Banana Leaves: These are actually the safest and probably the best choice. In a few countries, banana leaves are indeed traditionally used as plates. For heavy food, two banana leaves can be used on top of each other. They are environment friendly as well as inexpensive. Care must be taken because there may be chances of leakage.
